On the vast lush man made forest, live hundreds of old trees that are mostly over 180 years old. Those are parts of the collection of the Bogor botanical garden which was officially opened in 1817. Formerly, the gardens was used to research and develop plants and seeds from other parts of the Indonesian archipelago for cultivation during the 19th century. This is a tradition that continues today and contributes to the garden’s reputation as a major center for botanical research in the world . At present, the garden is housing over 15,000 species of trees and plants. On weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), the garden is also visited by people for picnicking. It is recommended to visit the garden during weekdays (Mondays to Fridays) when the garden is cleaned out from wastes left after the picnicking. I never feel bored to visit on weekday in where I can better enjoy my journey through the woods of tropical and subtropical forests accompanied by the sounds of birds, just like I was in an actual forest.
Here are some pictures of old trees at The Bogor Botanical Garden which I have admired.

It is a wonderful garden, Few people said that the Bogor botanical garden is not the garden in the western sense with different pretty beautiful flowers, etc. Nevertheless most people love to visit the garden, especially for Botanist and plant lovers and nice place for relaxing your mind too. 🙂
