Stifftia Christantha (Mikan) is an evergreen shrub has a woody stem with rough bark and can grow between 2 and 3 meters with entire smooth leaves and reticulate veins. A very ornamental plant and exotic, especially when in bloom. The amazing flower heads first emerge, the true flowers are surrounded by a mass of orange hair-like structures. The flowers eventually fall off, but the orange heads remain for some weeks till the colors fade away and dried, then they are blown by the wind.
This plant is native to Brazil which usually cultivated in gardens of the tropics and subtropics, and in greenhouses in the temperate zone. However, the plant is still quite rare and only known among lovers of ornamental plants and exotic plants collectors.

What a fascinating plant. I think, in Australia, the nearest plant to this would be the Bottle Brush; a native.
Your images are wonderful…

Yes, you are right. This flowering plant is almost close to Bottle Brush from Australia, but the bottle brush tree is larger than this plant and the flowers arrangement look like a bottle brush with bright red. The Stifftia belongs to Daisy family. and the bottle brush is in the family Myrtaceae. Thank you very much for your nice words and I am glad you enjoyed them. 🙂
