  1. American slang sign index finger and pinky finger raised = cuckold’s horns, when held over the head of someone else … usually a joke to tease amongst 10 or 11 year old boys or others of equal maturity.

With thumb, index finger and pinky finger raised, pointing upward, back of hand away from speaker, in American sign language for the deaf and/or mute = I love you, affectionate, familial, or romantic depending on the context. It can be misunderstood just as easily as the spoken or written words, if there is not enough explanation or qualifiers. Babies and small children are taught this sign to mean I love you. The love of the innocent kind felt by small children. Parents and siblings grandparents, others, can sign without making noise, to a child, and vice versa. Many babies learn simple, basic signs before they can speak. All over the world, when a baby raises the arms with open hands = I want to be picked up.

With thumb, index finger and pinky finger raised, pointing downward, back of hand away or facing speaker = affiliation or sympathy to a particular group. It is thought this configuration resembles the capital letter M.
