In Malaysia’s folktales it is associated with bad spirits and has influenced other cultures in parts of Indonesia while mostly associated with sacred place, such as temples of Hiduism and Buddhism on Java and Bali. At my house it is associated with our spirits that can spread the scent to all passers. Doesn’t it sound so nice? 🙂
