Is your parents or grandparents from East Indies? 🙂

No, roots come via England. But I don’t know much about the family before that. I suspect they might have been immigrants but don’t know for sure. I have several good friends that family history comes from the East Indies. We were all good friends before we discovered we had similar roots. It was amazing that without even knowing it we all gravitated towards one another. Says a lot about people in general.

I read a bit about the history of Indonesia and all the people who came through the region, from Africa, India, and China; to shape the amalgam of today’s population. The colonial period was a very ugly period, so glad those times are over….
