There are about 260 living species of monkeys all over the world had been recorded by Naturalists but excluded ape and human. Many of them inhabit the tropical rain forest in Indonesia. The Grey Monkey in the following photos can easily be seen in all National Parks in major islands of Java, Sumatra,Kalimatan(borneo), Sulawesi(celebes) and other small islands.
I don’t know what the word derived from as it is called “Monkey” for this creature. It could be from Mon and Key. So who is or what does Mon means?…. Solomon ?…. No! I don’t think so. It sounds also funny when someone say to me ” you are like a monkey!” …. It always make me laugh out loud.
Long ago, I visited a rain forest at the slope of Mount Salak in Bogor and hundreds of them came down from the trees to meet us up with creepy looking. After the guide told me that they are harmless then I lost the scary mind little by little and start to play with them.
I enjoyed the cool air in the park and the breeze hit the pine leaves as the monkey whispered the words “You are like me”

Hi Heather, I am so delighted you are here again :-). I was so scared with male monkeys that keep circling me very agile. If it was only one, I maybe OK but not for the number of 5 – 10 male monkeys around me! 🙂 I thank you so much for always visiting my blog. Best wishes

Excellent shots, I wish we had native ape species in the U.S but the climate is probably too cold, but then there are the apes who live in Japan on Mountains..:-)

You live in a wonderful part of the world and not without cause the Dutch named it “Buitenzorg” which means “without worry”. And the word “monkey” means “little man” (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=monkey) Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures. Admirable!
